Mona Laczo is EarthRights International’s Southeast Asia Regional Director. She received an M.A. in Asia Pacific Studies from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. in Europe/German Studies from the American University in Washington, DC. She has over 20 years of development sector experience in Southeast and South Asia in programs, policy advocacy, campaigning as well as management and leadership. Mona has extensive experiences in climate change, livelihoods, natural resources management, human rights, humanitarian, governance, and gender programs. She has lived in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, and Thailand. Prior to joining EarthRights International Mona’s professional experiences included her work with BBC Media Action as Country Director in Nepal, Southeast Asia Deputy Regional Director for Oxfam America, in Cambodia, South and Southeast Asia Regional Media and Advocacy Coordinator for Oxfam GB in Bangladesh and Thailand, as well as, refugee rights advocate with the Jesuit Refugee Service in Thailand.
