Shannon Young (she/her) comes to EarthRights International with extensive experience strengthening governance systems and increasing access to health and social services in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the United States. She most recently served as a Principal at Community Solutions, where she worked with the U.S. Congress and federal, state, and local government agencies on legal and policy change to end homelessness. Prior to that, she was a Foreign Service Officer at USAID, specializing in public health and health systems strengthening. In addition to her programmatic work, she also has significant experience negotiating complex and sensitive issues and communicating effectively and persuasively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from the legislative and executive branches of government, civil society, the private sector, the media, and bi- and multi-lateral organizations. Shannon loves managing and mentoring staff, and identifying opportunities for people to grow both personally and professionally. If you’re looking for her in her free time you can almost certainly find her at the climbing gym or out hiking.
