Our Global Work
EarthRights International maintains deep, long-term commitments in the regions where we operate, while coordinating across our offices to advance shared global objectives. This dual approach ensures our regional work benefits from international collaboration and collective strategy, and increases the visibility and legitimacy of community demands while creating pressure for institutional change.
We undertake legal actions—including strategic litigation—and promote training opportunities and advocacy campaigns to denounce human rights violations and abuses, to strengthen local leadership in the face of powerful economic interests that threaten their territories.
Cross-Regional Priorities
Through shared structural analyses, knowledge exchange, and coordinated international advocacy, we prioritize the following issues:
Ending Criminalization
Building institutional responses to the unjust targeting and persecution of human rights and environmental defenders worldwide

Enabling a Just Transition and Confronting Harmful Climate Solutions
Addressing false and harmful climate solutions that disproportionately burden Indigenous, rural, and marginalized communities, including:
- Environmental and human rights harms from unregulated rare earth mining
- Displacement and livelihood destruction from carbon credit projects
- Attacks on Indigenous territorial stewardship rights
