Kate Fried joined the staff of EarthRights in July of 2019 as its first-ever Communications Director. Kate oversees the creation and implementation of strategic communications initiatives to support our campaigns and legal cases. She is also responsible for guiding our branding, media relations and the creation of our published materials. Prior to coming on board, Kate oversaw strategic communications initiatives for Greenpeace USA, Food & Water Watch, and the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center. Kate has over a decade of experience crafting and implementing campaigns to improve public policies, shift public opinion, and hold corporations accountable for the harms they inflict on people and the planet. Kate has served as a writing partner to many leaders within the environmental movement. Her writing has appeared in The Nation, The New York Times, Yes! Magazine, and Washington Post, among other publications. Kate holds a B.A. in English with a concentration in cultural and media studies from Oberlin College.
