Law is a powerful took to change people’s lives. Law gives a voice to a community. Law adds legitimacy to advocacy.
Every year dozens of human rights and environmental justice advocates from the Mekong region and beyond come together to make a real change. EarthRights International launched the Mekong Legal Advocacy Institute (MLAI) in 2008 to provide a forum junior lawyers and campaigners to address social and environmental issues in the region and develop the understanding of public interest legal advocacy strategies.
Thanks to the generosity of the Bertha Foundation, eight EarthRights International Bertha Legal Fellows attended MLAI in December 2014 strengthening the global movement on human and environmental rights.
