Tamara Morgenthau
Senior Attorney
Tamara has supported individuals and communities around the world in their pursuit for justice, accountability, and protection of their human rights. She has litigated and supported advocacy and cases before domestic courts and regional and international human rights bodies.
Tamara was a Bertha Fellow with EarthRights from 2016-2018, where she worked on transnational litigation against U.S. multinational corporations, including Maxima Acuña-Atalaya v. Newmont Mining Corp., foreign legal assistance cases, and advocacy before U.N. human rights bodies. Prior to returning to EarthRights, Tamara was a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the International Human Rights Law Clinic at UC Berkeley School of Law where she supervised projects, including supporting strategies for Indigenous communities displaced by agro-industrial projects in Liberia. Tamara was also a Senior Attorney at the Center for International Environmental Law where she focused on protecting human rights in the context of the climate crisis, climate accountability, and accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels.
Tamara started her legal career practicing immigration and refugee law in Toronto, Canada where she represented clients before administrative bodies, the Federal Court and appellate courts. Tamara has also represented public interest groups in interventions before appellate courts and the Supreme Court of Canada, and clerked at the Federal Court of Canada.
Tamara holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa, an LL.M. from NYU School of Law, M.A. (International Affairs) from Carleton University, and a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. Tamara is admitted to practice law in New York and Ontario, Canada. She is not admitted to the D.C. Bar; practice is supervised by D.C. Bar Members.
