EarthRights School students recently visited the Ban Nong Tao community in Thailand to learn from Karen indigenous activists about their struggles for climate justice and land rights. Thailand’s efforts to mitigate carbon emissions have promoted land and conservation laws that criminalize many indigenous communities’ way of life and threaten to force them off of their land. But these communities maintain that their low-impact lifestyle is a part of a climate change mitigation solution, not a problem. Read more on our blog here.
