
Kornkanok Wathanabhoom
Legal Advisor
Kornkanok is a Thai lawyer who has been with Earthrights as a Mekong Legal Advisor since August 2023.
Before joining EarthRights, she worked on various human rights issues in Thailand for over a decade. She devoted herself to working for vulnerable people in Thailand, including stateless people, migrant workers, indigenous people, and urban refugees. She also has experience in business and human rights, focusing on the affected communities on health, well-being, and the environment from Thai investment. Most cases are related to the transboundary environmental impact in the Mekong sub-region. Some cases are located in other countries but impact Thai people, such as dams on the Mekong River. Moreover, she conducted research for UNDP, Thailand, on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders in the context of Business and Human Rights. She is an active member of the ETOs Watch Coalition, which monitors laws and policy on Thai corporate accountability.
Kornkanok completed a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Thammasat University, Thailand, and got a Chevening scholarship for her master’s degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom. Kornkanok is a foodies and loves traveling.
