Alison Borochoff-Porte
Senior Attorney
Alison (Ali) graduated from Columbia Law School where she was the Executive Managing Director of the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. She clerked for the Honorable Margo K. Brodie on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Prior to joining EarthRights as a Senior Attorney, Ali worked at multiple non-profits and served as counsel at a plaintiff-side litigation boutique. She leverages her past non-profit and private firm experiences to best serve clients and communities. Her affirmative litigation experience includes trial and appellate work, complex and multidistrict litigation, class actions, public client representation, and impact litigation. She has litigated against diverse defendant profiles, including oil and gas, tobacco, and health insurers. Her practice areas have spanned environmental, consumer protection, human rights, unfair competition, and whistleblower law. Ali has also regularly represented high-profile amici curiae, including numerous times before the United States Supreme Court. She has conducted human rights investigations in the United States, China, Thailand, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea.
A representative sample of Ali’s past and present work includes filing a public nuisance climate change lawsuit against Exxon and Suncor on behalf of Colorado communities in Boulder County v. Suncor, representing the State of New Mexico against tobacco conglomerates in a $37 million arbitration dispute, and representing 192 members of the United States Congress as amici in West Virginia v. EPA.
Ali received her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College and was a Fulbright Research Fellow in China.
