Yenanchaung Township, Magway Division. Livelihood Impacts. Vast amounts of palm trees in War Roe village, Yenanchaung Township, Magway Division were cleared for oil and gas pipeline construction in February 2012 to the detriment of local residents, who depend on these trees for house building materials, palm sugar, and palm wine. Newly planted trees will take twenty years until they grow to maturity and can replace the ones that have been cleared. Villagers did not receive compensation for destruction to palm trees.
